Fernando Etulain

Fernando Etulain graduated from the Active School of Photography in México city. He moved to France where Lucien Clergue, founder of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie and the Rencontres de la Photographie d’Arles became his mentor in photography and print technics. During his residence in France for the next fifteen years, Etulain ventured into the areas of editorial and commercial photography, art direction, production and advertising, and afterward when moved back to México he got involved in an academic role, teaching and structuring study plans on photography at Centro de Diseño University.

His personal, photographic work approached a plastic representation, finding its form in conceptualized series. At every one the principle is about to use a type of photographic register and writing formulas, in order to emulate its own aesthetics with the idea to place it as a practice on the photographic history related to the author personal time and space worries, where the most important among them is the theory of light and colors.

His work found exposure in the Festival International de la Mode et de Photographie, Hyères, the XII Bienal de Fotografía,
Centro de la Imagen, The gallery Artligue, Paris, France and Almanaque Fotográfica Gallery, México city represents his work.
