Valerio Olgiati
Valerio Olgiati studied architecture at the ETH Zurich. After finishing his studies, he lived and worked in Zürich and some years in Los Angeles. In 1996 he founded his studio in Zürich with his wife Tamara, in Flims, Switzerland.
He received attention outside the architectural scene for the first time in 1999 with The Yellow House Museum in Flims, Switzerland and in 2008 he created an icon for the Museum of Contemporary Art in Perm, Russia, that won the competition.
His most important buildings include a school in Paspels, the visitor center of the National Park in Zernez, Switzerland; the House of the Musician in Scharans, the residential complex Schleife in Zug and the Villa Além in Portugal. He has major projects in progress such as the Carnasciale winery in Italy, a high-rise building in San Felipe, Peru; a house for a priest in Germany and a building for the headquarters of the insurance company Baloise in Basel.
The main individual exhibition of his work took place at MoMA Tokyo and since 2002, he is a professor at the Accademia di Architettura Mendrisio at the Italian Università Della Svizzera.
