Nicolas Henchoz

Nicolas Henchoz is the Director of EPFL+ECAL Lab, the Design Research Center of the Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne. With a background in engineering and journalism, he became art director. In 2001 he started to develop a new vision of Design research. His book Design for Innovative Technologies, from Disruption to Acceptance, defines a unique approach about how technologies can be turned in meaningful user experiences. The projects of his Lab have been featured in institutions like Harvard University, the Musée des arts décoratifs in Paris, the American Institute of Architecture in NYC or the Royal College of Art in London. The research work have also led to several articles and conferences as ISMAR, Include. Siggraph or Leonardo. He’s a Visiting Professor at the Politecnico di Milano, Chevalier des arts et des Lettres de la République française and board member of the Global Alliance for Media Innovation.
